ASF-E Scoring

There is a total score signifying Family Health or Effectiveness:

   Add all items:   possible point range is 20 - 60

 

There are four valid subscales:

  Stability: 

Add items pertaining to Coherence (C) and System Maintenance (SM)

Items  1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19

  Growth:

Add items pertaining to Individuation (I) and System Change (SC)

Items  3, 4, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, and 20

  Control:

Add items pertaining to System Maintenance (SM) and System Change (SC)

Items  2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19, and 20

  Spirituality:

Add items pertaining to Coherence (C) and Individuation (I)

Items  1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, and 18

 

According to normality testing, scores 54 and larger signify healthy families. 

Scores 53 and lower signify problematic strategies.
